What is the content restriction?

As you can see, restricted content is marked by a lock.

When you click on the page anyways, this is what you see.

With the content restriction feature you can display certain content only in the desktop view.

If someone accesses a page via the Linchpin mobile app, which has been restricted using the content restriction feature, the content will not be displayed in the app. This content is marked by a lock icon.

How do I activate the content restriction?

To activate the content restriction, click on the gear icon and select "Mobile". Within the sidebar go to "Content restriction". Here you can set which pages can and cannot be delivered via the Linchpin Mobile app. Simply do not enter anything if you do not want to make any restrictions.

Within the content restriction section, you have a drop down menu that allows you to choose between the options: deactivated, allowlist and blocklist.

Please note, it can take up to 30 minutes after publishing until the new menu configuration is available to all mobile users.

What is the difference between allowlist and blocklist?

Use the allowlist if you only want to deliver a small amount of selected content with the Linchpin Mobile app and block most content. Only pages marked with the following keywords or space labels are accessable.

Use the blocklist if you want to deliver most content with the Linchpin Mobile app and only want to block a few selected items. All pages marked with the following keywords or space labels will be blocked in the mobile app.

What is the difference between the content restriction & the hide for mobile macro?

Because the macro "Hide for mobile" only hides certain sections of a page or blogpost, you can use this macro to hide several parts or even the whole of a page or blogpost.

The difference to the content restriction is that you can't even access the page, blogpost or space. While the URL to the space/blogpost/page exists, access is denied in the mobile app.

How does this look like on the mobile app?

Restricted Content

As you can see, restricted content is marked by a lock icon.

When you click on the page anyways, this is what you see:

Unrestricted Content

As you can see there is no longer a lock icon next to the page.

This means you are able to view this page with no restrictions.

Want to hide certain information or an image on a page when it's opened via the Linchpin Mobile App?

Check out the documentation for the macro "hide for mobile" here.
