What is a Gadget?

The information boxes in Jira dashboards are called gadgets. Jira is delivered with over 20 pre-installed gadgets.

OpenSocial

You can insert OpenSocial gadgets directly in the Jira gadget directory.

Wallboards

Add gadgets to your information radiator withe the Jira wallboard plugin.

Old Portlets

Even when upgrading an old version of Jira, your customized portlets will continue to work via the portlet gadget bridge.

The bamboo plan summary gadget creates a graphic overview of the blueprints.

The Jira news gadget shows the latest Atlassian news in Jira.

Issue statistics

The gadget Issue Statistics shows a collection of issues which were sorted through special filters.

Jira Wallboards

Change Jira Dashboards into an Information Radiator with the Jira Wallboard Plugin.

Gadget Subscription

Include all your gadgets from your Confluence, Bamboo, FishEye or Crucible instances, as well as from other Jira instances, by subscribing to gadgets from other applications.

Project plans

The gadget Bamboo Plan shows a list of all project plans in a bamboo server and their current status.

Search for Bugzilla ID

The gadget bugzilla ID search enables all users to search Jira issues for references for bugzilla IDs.

Calendar**

The gadget issue calendar shows all issues and the history with their due dates in a calendar. Calendars can be based on a display filter or a project.

Clover

The gadget Clover Coverage shows the clover coverage of project plans of a certain Bamboo server.

Created vs. Resolved

The gadget Created vs. Resolved creates a diagram, which shows the differences between created and resolved issues over a certain period of time.

Crucible Diagrams*

The gadget to generate Crucible diagrams creates statistic summaries of code reviews in different diagrams.

Remaining days*

Show the amount of remaining days until a specific sprint. (Not available in all versions of Jira)

Favorite Filter

The favorite filter gadget creates a list of all display filters, which you have recently added to the popular filters.

Filter Results

The Filter Results gadget shows the results of a certain display filter. You can also generate directly from the gadget.

FishEye Diagrams*

The FishEye gadget creates two diagrams, which illustrate statistics over a certain source code repository.

FishEye Change protocols*

The FishEye Recent Changesets Gadget illustrates your latest change protocols from the FishEye Repository.

Heatmap

Create a Tag Cloud from statistical values for certain filters with the Heatmap gadget.

In Progress

The gadget In Progress shows all issues that are assigned to and processed by the current user of the dashboard.

Pie Chart Diagram

The Pie Chart gadget groups issues from a project or a search filter according to statistical types and evaluated as a pie chart. The issues can be sorted according to different statistics such as status, priority or assignee.

Projects

The gadget Projects offers information and various filters for a certain project.

The Quick Links gadget shows some helpful links to issues, that are connected to the current user.

Recent Projects

The gadget for recent projects creates a bar chart that shows the frequency, by which new issues have been created and how many of the new issues have been completed.

Time tracking

The time tracking gadget creates a bar chart, evaluating the average processing time to complete an issue (in days).

Text**

The text gadget shows the configurable HTML text in the dashboard.

Time Since Issue

The Time Since Issue gadget creates a bar diagram, that shows the number of issues for the selected data (such as "created", "updated", "due" or "solved") for a certain date.

Two dimensional Filter Statistics

The gadget of two dimensional filter statistics will show statistical data of a special filter in a configurable table.

Voted

The Voten Issue gadget shows all issues that you have voted for.

Watched issues

The gadget for watched issues will show you all issues that you are watching.

Introduction

The Introduction gadget shows an introduction message for your dashboard.

Open Source projects and non-commercial organizations are eligible for free community licenses.

Create Issues and Comments via E-Mail

Jira can be configured to create issues and comment via E-Mail. Jira can take over key fields such as "summary", "description" and "report". If there is no existing account, Jira can create one and notify the user via E-Mail.

It is possible to create issues remotely, via links, e-mails, and programatic end points.

Attachments

Attach files and screenshots to the issues. Jira emphasizes the latest version and shows miniature images in the issues and activity streams.

Link issues through relations, that can be adjusted personally.

Pluggable Attachments

Vote on Issues

Organize your issues by priority. Votes of the users show the most popular issues.

Plan Issues

Assign due dates to the issues, in order to plan tasks and control reports. You can search for both fixed and relative due dates.

Sub Issues

Create sub issues, in order to view as many tasks as needed. Add dependencies, in order to ensure that all sub issues were completed, before completing the main issue.

Navigation

The Button "Create Issue"

Use the button "Create Issue" to quickly add new issues. The project and issue fields will be completed in relation to your active projects and recent issues. When switching between projects, additional "Create Issue" buttons for the two most commonly used issue types will be displayed.

Shortcuts

Keyboard shortcuts offer a quick and easy way to navigate in Jira, without taking your fingers off the keyboard.

Issue Navigator

The issue navigator enables you to search for issues through a simple JQL search or extended search options. Adapt your issue navigation to your requirements and use it for subscribing to issues, to export bulk operations, or access directly from the search results.

Operations Bar

Use the bar to access your issue actions and workflows from one central place.

Recent Projects/Issues

One click in the menu heading of the top navigation bar will take you directly to your latest dashboard or project. Click the drop down menu, to see a list of all recent projects and issues.

Favorites Filter

The drop down menu for projects in the top navigation bar lists your popular saved search filters.

Navigate with Quick Search

Move quickly through Jira with the abbreviations of quick search. For example, you can enter an issue key, in order to jump to the related issue.

Search in Projects

View your projects to get qualitative summaries of the activities and processes. Switch to activity protocol, to view planning or details of publications or components.

Dashboards

Adjust your dashboards to your customized Jira settings.

User Profiles

Each user will be assigned a profile page, that contains personal details, user avatars or profile pictures, as well as associated groups, projects and latest activities. In addition, links to personalized reports can be viewed. Adjust your Jira settings from your profile page.

Summary & Reports

Every project has its own summary page which includes project details, recent activity and shortcuts to reports, filters and creating new issues.

Issues & Filters

View a summary of all issues in a project grouped by Status, as well as reports of all unresolved issues, grouped by Assignee, Priority, Version and Component.

Activity Stream

View project activity in your favourite RSS reader. Comment on issues directly from the project activity stream on the summary page.

Browse a summary for each version of a project, typically a release or iteration. Also, drill into the Issues, Popular Issues and Builds for any version.

The project Change Log shows the resolved issues for the recently released versions of a project.

Generate release notes containing details of all issues fixed in a specific version.
