News Categories supply corporate communication departments with a professional news classification system.

General Concept 

News Categories categorize your news by topics which are independent from spaces or labels. Unlike with standard Confluence labels, you can use uppercase letters and spaces in the names of your categories.

Categories are also clickable. Click on a category to open all news of this category in an overlay feed.



Create news categories

Navigate to Confluence administration → Linchpin Enterprise News → Categories.


Enter the name of your new category within the text input area.

Then, click on the Save button.

The name of the category will be used in macro configuration, so please make sure that your users understand what you mean with it.



Edit, translate or delete news categories 

To delete a category, click on the Delete button in the Actions column.

To edit/rename a category, click on the Editbutton in the Actions column. Change the name and click on the Save button.


In case someone tags a news entry with a category you were going to rename, we'll migrate that change for you.


To translate a category, click on the Translate button in the Actions column.

In the Add locale section, select the language into which you want to translate the category. Then, click on the + Add button.

Enter the translation and click on the Save button.


Translations are only available if you have the Linchpin Intranet Suite installed.
