By default, users can edit only their own profile. But in some cases it might be wise to give another user the permission to edit others' profiles. Here you can learn how to do it.

How to define profile editors

Navigate to Confluence administration → Linchpin User Profiles → Profile Edit Permissions.


If it's the first time you do this, you will see a rather empty screen and a +Add permission button.


Please note that only administrators can manage profile editors and their permissions.


Click on the +Add permission button to add an editor for other user's profile.

You can either add a single person as an editor, or you can add a whole user group as editors.

The upper field decides whose profile should be editable for others. Enter the name of the user or user group whose profile(s) should be editable.

The bottom field decides who the editor(s) should be. Enter the name of the user or user group that should be able to edit the profile(s) above.

Click on the Save button to confirm your action.



After a profile editor makes changes to a user's profile, the user will be notified about these changes.
