Summary & Highlights

The new Linchpin Intranet Suite is here!

Yes, it's yet another new release of our beloved suite. We are happy to introduce it to you, because some things have changed significantly. Some bugs were fixed, that's true. But we also introduce many new improvements with version 3.0 of the Linchpin Intranet Suite.

We prepared a short summary of the most important changes, so you can keep track of them. If you want more info about a specific function, use the navigation to jump to this function's release notes.

Let's start with a brand new member of our Linchpin Intranet Suite! We are very pleased to announce that the Language Manager is now part of the Linchpin Intranet Suite

The Language Manager allows you to define the language of any Confluence page, blog post or even any space. It also allows you to link all correct page translations with each other. If a translation (or several translations) is available for a page, a button to browse the different language versions will be displayed. The Language Manager also notifies you whenever a page translation is available in your language!

Secondly, we revisited Linchpin Events. We are more than happy to announce two major changes to this plugin. From now on, permissions are configured individually for every event. By default, all registered users can see newly created events. But you can change that. As the event creator, the event editor or the Confluence administrator you can limit the visibility and editibility of an event to specific users or user groups. This gives you more control over your events. Also, the event creator is now displayed inside the event card, so that users know who to contact if they've got any questions about the event.

Furthermore, we implemented the free image database Unsplash.com into Linchpin Events. You can use the massive database of royalty free images to add a cover image to your event. And the best thing about it? You can do it from within the event creation wizard! No need to disrupt your focus and leave the page/tab.

Microblogging for Confluence also received some love. It's now possible to attach web images and web videos (YouTube/Vimeo) to your posts. Just copy the direct link to the web image or web video you wish to include in your post and paste it inside the Microblog editor. The editor will resolve the link for you and automatically attach the file to your post. We also made it easier to attach local images - now you can simply drag and drop your files from your computer to the editor.

Moreover, Linchpin Mobile now supports the "App" macro! Linchpin Mobile users can access their favorite apps on the go now.

User Profiles & Terms of Use

We made some technical improvements for Linchpin User Profiles and Terms of Use plugins. Due to technical reasons, we also support only CSV files in the field type "Cascade Select" now. Furthermore, we added the system's default language as a fallback, in case a custom language pack is being used and no correct translation is available.

  • When using a custom language pack to translate profile field and category names, the system's default language is now used as a fallback when no translation exists for a user's language.
  • Until now, the OrgCharts did not show users when the capitalization of the user profile field was done incorrectly (as in: different from the actual user name). This has been fixed to use a case-insensitive lookup. Superior and subordinate users are now displayed properly, even if "JaneDoe" is entered as "janedoe".
