Summary & Highlights

Welcome to Linchpin Essentials 1.4!

The Linchpin Essentials 1.4 release contains several new features for Linchpin. Of course, we always try to improve our apps, so you can count on some patches and bugfixes, too.

We prepared a short summary of the most important changes, so you can keep track of them. If you want more info about a specific function, use the navigation to jump to this function's release notes.

Let's begin with a new addition to Linchpin Essentials - the Collapsible Admin Menu.

Collapsible Admin Menu improves the usability of the Confluence admin menu. It allows for a much faster and easier navigation by adding collapsible menu headers and a search bar to the regular admin menu. It also stores the settings for each user individually.

Next in line is Linchpin User Profiles.

We added more filters to the people directory and improved the search. The search updates while you type, now, and almost all profile field types can be searched.

The Org Charts received a new feature. You can now include Org Charts in the people directory and on any Confluence page thanks to the new Org Chart macro.

We simplified the profile data synchronization administration.

  • When changing a profile field with LDAP or XML data source, you can start a sync right from the configuration. We will also remind you that in some cases it's useful to deactivate the incremental LDAP sync.
  • When configuring profile pictures to be retrieved from URLs, you can directly check the availability and run the sync. Also, users can start the profile picture sync for themselves from their profile when they see that profile picture and small avatar don't match anymore.
  • We clarified the configuration of LDAP directories and incremental sync a little bit.

And last but not least, deleted users leave no personal traces within Linchpin User Profiles anymore (GDPR / DSGVO conformity).

Linchpin Theme comes with some new features, too.

You can set the logo image of your system much, much easier now. We included a "What you see is what you get" interactive tool which helps to find the perfect logo size and placement within the header.

The sidebar modules can be ordered in any way, now. Also, the Teaser macro received a neutral color - gray.

Linchpin Theme

We created a new logo image configuration, added a new color to the Teaser macro, made the sidebar more flexible and fixed some bugs.

New features

  • Set the logo image of your system much easier and more intuitive than ever before.
  • Adapt the order of the sidebar modules to your needs and increase the usage efficiency.
  • You can now use a new color for the Teaser macro - a neutral gray.
  • We added color support for an upcoming feature of Linchpin Events.

Bugfixes

  • We fixed a bug that caused external links with a hashtag (#) to be cut off.
  • We fixed a bug which caused wrong font colors on primary buttons. They incorrectly corresponded to the configured link color before. This is history now.

Linchpin User Profiles

More updates for Org Charts! Now, you can include the Org Charts within the people directory. And if that wasn't enough, an Org Chart macro exists now and makes it possible to include Org Charts on any Confluence page.

New features

  • Find the right people easier than ever. The new people directory received a new search and new filters. Almost all profile field types are now searchable, and the search view updates live while you type.
  • Display Org Charts in the people directory for one or more top-level users.
  • Display Org Charts on any Confluence page with the help of the Org Chart macro.

Improvements

  • Deleted users leave no personally identifiable traces in Linchpin User Profiles (GDPR / DSGVO conformity).
  • We have deprecated the "LDAP" field type. Please use text fields with LDAP data source instead.
    For more info, see https://seibert.biz/userprofilesldapfield.

Bugfixes

  • We fixed the profile background for users with special characters (for example spaces) in their usernames.
  • Now, when you rename select options, the values change in the profile data as well.
  • You can translate the Linchpin Onboarding module content again.
  • Fields of the "user" type correctly display the full name within the Profile macro or the vCard now.
  • When you can't edit your phone number, we don't display misleading placeholders anymore.
  • We included several optical fixes.

Collapsible Admin Menu

Collapsible Admin Menu improves the usability of the Confluence admin menu. It allows for a much faster and easier navigation by adding collapsible menu headers and a search bar to the regular admin menu. It also stores the settings for each user individually.

  • We added the Collapsible Admin Menu to Linchpin Essentials.

Improvements

  • We added stylings for the current menu item.
  • All Linchpin-related entries are now grouped under one menu entry.
  • We added a third navigation layer for Linchpin apps.
  • We completely rewrote the UI with Vue.js.
  • We added an endpoint to get the menu sections and items in a designated ordered structure for Linchpin Suite and Linchpin Essentials.
