For version:  VERSION 2.0.0

The "Custom Epic Panel" app lets you work with all types of issues in the Epic Panel, along with the Epic functionality.

Jira administrators can define which issues should be displayed on which agile boards (Scrum / Kanban). Jira users can use the familiar Epic functionality and follow their usual workflows. They shouldn't need any additional training to use the feature correctly.

  • Customize which issues are to be displayed in the Epic Panel based on a JQL query, irrespective of the board filter.
  • Work with a variety of issues types within the Epic Panel, not just Epics.
  • Configure which JQL queries should apply to which agile boards.
  • Specify which link type and direction should be set automatically when an issue is dragged from the backlog to an issue in the Epic Panel.
  • Decide whether issues can belong to more than one issue in the Epic Panel.
  • Rename the title of the Epic Panel and other labels on the Agile Board according to your requirements.

Open the Agile Board you want to work with, and make sure that your Jira administrator has created a configuration for this board (when no configuration has been created, you'll see the default Jira Epic Panel). This configuration defines what is included in the Epic Panel on that particular board. Please refer to the administration documentation to see all configuration options.

As a Jira user, you can work with issues from the backlog view as you are used to, by dragging them into the Epic Panel to create a link (Figures 1-3). The difference is that the issues in the Epic Panel do not have to be Jira Epics, but potentially can be any issue type.

1. Backlog of a Scrum Board including a customized Epic Panel called FEATURES.

2. Drag and drop a backlog issue (PRINCE-5) onto an issue (Landing Pods) in the Epic Panel to create a link.

3. See the linked issue from the current issue with the label

If your Jira administrator has enabled multiple links for this board, you can link an already linked backlog issue with another issue in the Epic Panel (see Figure 4). This will update the issue's label (see Figure 5).

4. Link an already linked backlog issue to another issue in the Epic Panel

5. Updated link label

  • No labels
