Description

The "Feature Progress" gadget shows the issues from the Program level as well as their initial and current estimates. This lets you compare the estimates with the actual progress at the Team level (based on story points).

Each line represents a Program issue with the following information:

  • Summary
  • Issue key
  • Issue type icon

  • Gray bar: Current estimate
    • This value is stored in the Program issue itself. By default, this is the "Job Size" field. No gray bar is shown if the value is not stored in the corresponding Program issue.
  • Black line: Initial estimate
    • This value is stored in the Program issue itself. By default, this is the "Original Job Size" field. No black line is shown if the value is not stored in the corresponding Program issue.

  • The tri-colored bar shows the sum of all Story Points at the Team level, which ultimately are included in the Program issue via the various hierarchical issue links. You can click on the bar to see the exact number of Story Points that exist in each status category. Click on "Source Issues" to see the underlying issues.
  • The green part of the bar shows the number of Story Points that have already been completed and are therefore in the "Done" status category.
  • The yellow part of the bar shows the number of Story Points that are currently being worked on and are therefore in the "In Progress" status category.
  • The blue part of the bar shows the number of Story Points that are yet to be started and thus in the "To Do" status category.
  • If there are no issues at the Team level which are hierarchically linked to the Program issue across the various levels, this bar is not displayed.

Gadget configuration

You can configure the following settings in this gadget:

Chart TitleYou can choose a title to replace the default title of this gadget.
JobSize factor

Since the job size of a Program issue can be any number between 1 and 40, and because the sum of the story points of all Team issues hierarchically assigned to the Program issue is many times greater, these values cannot be directly compared.

Using the JobSize factor you can compensate for the large difference by multiplying the size of the job by this configurable factor.

Note: When adding the gadget, a JobSize factor of 100 is set by default. If no story points are displayed, change the Job Size Factor to something else to test it. The default Job Size Factor of 100 compares Job Size 1:1 with the story points.

JQL Selector

You can use JQL to view a selected list of issues. The Program issues are always displayed.
Tip: If the list of issues is very long or loads slowly, we recommend that you filter out issues using JQL.

We recommend that you filter out completed issues with the following JQL: statusCategory != Done

Program Project

Using the drop-downs "Program Project" and "Release", only the progress bars of the Program issues are displayed, which include the subtasks within the hierarchy of the selected release.

Only projects at the Program level can be selected from this drop-down. This directly influences the "Release" drop-down below, which then displays the corresponding releases for selection. Even when the field initially appears empty, "All Releases" is selected.

ReleaseYou can select the project releases here.
